Firewise Logos

The Firewise Communities™ logo is a trademark owned by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA). It is intended for use by government entities and non-profit organizations that coordinate with the national Firewise Communities program and/or incorporate its concepts into their educational and outreach efforts. Use of the Firewise logo for commercial or for-profit use is strictly prohibited.

Please contact the national Firewise team if you wish to feature the Firewise Communities logo in your materials. To ensure consistency of message and protect the integrity of the program, the national team may ask to review your material prior to distribution if it is to carry the Firewise Communities logo. We understand time sensitivities, and will make every effort to review and respond within one to three business days.

Following are a few guidelines when considering the use of the national Firewise Communities logo:

The logo is intended for use by government entities and non-profit organizations that coordinate with the national Firewise Communities program and/or incorporate its concepts into their educational and outreach efforts.
Organizations wishing to incorporate a Firewise logo into their materials should contact their state liaison to determine if a state or local variation of the logo is available and whether it is appropriate to use.
Use of the Firewise logo for commercial or for-profit use is strictly prohibited.
Use of the national logo should in no way indicate approval, sanction, or certification of local Firewise practices.
The Firewise logo may never be used to indicate a direct or implied "guarantee" of protection or survival from wildfire.

The Firewise Communities/USA logo also is trademarked by NFPA, and its use is restricted to communities that have earned distinction through the national Firewise/USA recognition program and to states that have established an official Firewise Communities Liaison with the national team. This logo is available on the password-protected page of the Firewise Communities/USA site.

Logo Variations
Your organization may have a standard design and layout for media materials that can incorporate the Firewise Communities logo. As an additional resource, the national Firewise communications team has developed templates for use by local organizations in preparing localized news releases, fact sheets, and media advisories that feature the Firewise Communities logo. Please contact the national communications team to receive an electronic copy of the templates.
