If you already have Java the first thing you will do is to click the link to the left that says "Enter the Chat". Enter your first and last name at the User Name prompt. Then hit 'Connect'. Our room password is always 'chatfirewise', so enter 'chatfirewise' at password prompt.

Firewise Communities chats follow a specific protocol. Chat organizers commit to limiting the chat time to one hour. They make every effort to begin the chat promptly. For the first half hour, the moderators ask questions of the guests who have been invited to present specific information to you---the audience. For the second half hour, chatting is completely open and unstructured, although the subject matter is limited to Firewise Communities subject matter. That is the time to ask questions and contribute other, pertinent information to the forum.

When you are inputting data that you want to contribute to the chat, limit your entries to 250 characters. If you have more to share than that, simply place a "..." at the end of your first entry and quickly input the rest of your material. The "..." will tell others in the chat room that you are not finished communicating your thought, and they will wait for you to do so.
